NISV: Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision

The NISV is responsible for the long-term preservation of Dutch audiovisual heritage as defined by the Dutch government. The NISV offers its services to diverse user groups. A major group are television professionals, such as producers, broadcasters and directors looking for reusable shots. The second user group is comprised of people from science and education: historians and communication scientists study the material in the archives; students and teachers from primary and secondary schools use the material to illustrate or clarify their lessons. This is the user group that will benefit from NISV as a CLARIN Data Provider. A third user group consists of people with a general interest in a programme or a topic, who use the NISV corporate website to access the archives from their homes.
NISV currently gives access to the "Academia collection" in a CLARIN compatible way.

UBU - Utrecht University Library

The UBU provides all services that are to be expected from a University Library and recently it has also started to consider the possibilities of storing research data and the collaboration of University Libraries within research infrastructures. This has led to the involvement of UBU with the CLARIN NL project.

Digitale Bibliotheek der Nederlandse Letteren (DBNL)

The Digital Library for Dutch Literature (Dutch: Digitale Bibliotheek voor de Nederlandse Letteren or DBNL) is a foundation offering a web-site with many digital literary resources. The DBNL is an initiative by the DBNL foundation that was founded in 1999 by the Society of Dutch Literature (Dutch: Maatschappij der Nederlandse Letterkunde). Building of the DNBL site was made possible by donations, among others, from the Dutch Organization for Scientific Research (Dutch: Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) and the Nederlandse Taalunie.

CLARIN-NL wants to make sure that data from organizations such as DBNL are available to humanities researchers in the CLARIN infrastructure and in a CLARIN-compliant manner. For this reason, a special type of centre has been defined, a CLARIN Data Provider, and the organizations mentioned have been invited to make a proposal to become such a CLARIN Data Provider.

Royal Library (KB)

The Royal Library: Koninklijke Bibliotheek (Dutch) (KB) is the National Library of the Netherlands. KB adds to the CLARIN infrastructure its digitised text collections. KB is on its way to make these collections available to the research community according to the CLARIN-standards as prescribed for a CLARIN data archiving centre. Long term policies plans for KB shows the ambition to have digitised and online available most of the printed text publications issued in the Netherlands (books, journals, newspapers, etc.) in 2025. Although it still looks a long way to overcome the copyright issues for the modern digitised material, it is one of KB’s strategic goals to play a prominent role in overcoming these issues. KB is also supporting partner of a number of CLARIN demonstration or curation projects.
